Young Asian Women, Speak Up!!!

Hi fellow asians. Below is an opportunity for you. You may want to participate in a discussion on AIDS issues. I hope you apply and I wish you good luck too.

IWHC Advocacy in Practice: Young Women Speak Up on HIV/AIDS at the
8th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP)
Columbo, Sri Lanka, August 16-23 2007***
*
*

IWHC believes that young women need to be heard and have a place at the
policy table. The 8th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the
Pacific (ICAAP) offers the opportunity to bring together a group of
young women (ages 18-24) with diverse backgrounds and a desire to
discuss and elevate their voices on the subject of HIV/AIDS.

From August 16-18, 2007, IWHC will facilitate a discussion and
training
with ten young women from the region prior to the ICAAP. Participants
will

*
explore what HIV/AIDS means to this generation;
*
prioritize challenges faced and perceived solutions;
*
learn how international agencies and agreements have an impact on
countries, communities, and young people's lives;
*
gain skills needed to voice their needs effectively to stimulate
attention, agreement, and action;
*
develop plans and learn tactics to successfully negotiate with
social and political leaders;
*
put lessons learned into practice during the ICAAP, August 19-23.

IWHC will cover costs for travel, lodging, meals, visas, travel
insurance, and registration fees for the ICAAP for all participants.

To participate you must

*
be a woman between the ages of 18-24;
*
hold a valid passport from an Asian country;
*
have experience working in social movements (i.e. HIV/AIDS,
women's, health, youth, human rights, environment, development);
*
ability to read, write, and work in English.

Feb 24 Night

1st scene: Hazel and her daughter. I'm telling Hazel that I have not met her daughter and that I wanted to see her. I told her that the dress I boughtfor her kid will no longer suit her.

2nd scene: Im texting red and I say hi to his mom. I want to greet his mom because I feel connected to her and I know she remembers me. In the dream, I'd get the NY reply on the 15th and that Im really leaving for NY.

3rd scene:Poetry recital. I felt bad that the reading was bad. The poem was written by my friend, Bevz. The girl who read her poem was a big woman. I told myself that I would have read it better and with feelings and that the reading was really awful. The poem's about a dying river because of garbage.

4th scene: Kuya Eric. He said something about a news on the newspaper that told story about liquidation and cleansing of the leftist.

Feb 23 Night

By the seashore, at the foot of a mountain. My mom, geb and other family members were tracking little icons and stones that we found by the river or shore. Big rocks and sands. There's a small concrete house; size of a comfort room. Green stones and diamonds shaped into fishes. Trees everywhere.
